- Client
- AerialGIS
- Region
- East Africa
- Our role
- Product engineering partner from ideation to launch.
Context
AerialGIS is a GIS technology company working in real estate in East Africa. PlotViewer helps land sellers and developers present their plots to buyers.
The client needed one team that understood software engineering, geospatial systems and real estate together.
Constraints
- Buyers browse on phones as well as desktops, often on slower connections.
- Plot status changes as sales happen, so the public map must not show a sold plot as available.
- Sales staff, not GIS specialists, keep the plot data up to date.
What Jugrafiya was responsible for
- Product engineering from ideation to launch, as described by the client
What we built
- Every plot shown on high-resolution aerial imagery with its status: available, reserved or sold, plus any extra details the developer stores.
- 3D aerial views so buyers understand a plot’s surroundings before visiting.
- An admin panel where staff change plot status and import new data, which appears on the public map automatically.
How we approached it
- The admin panel writes plot status to the same data the public map reads, so a change appears without a separate publishing step.
- Aerial imagery is served as map tiles, so large surveys load quickly at every zoom level.
- The buyer journey runs from the aerial overview to a single plot’s status and details in a few taps.
Evidence
Jugrafiya was part of AerialGIS’s creative process from ideation to execution and helped build products used widely in the regional real estate sector.

We are a GIS technology company working in real estate in East Africa. When we began product development, our biggest challenge was building a team skilled in both software development, geospatial systems and one that had experience working in Real Estate. Jugrafiya happened to be the perfect match. They understood our vision to empower property investors with information through the digitization of the property buying process. Their approach is pleasantly different from other developers and there is a sense of bonfide job satisfaction.
